I'm Larissa and I, too, am a survivor of sexual violence. No pity. No shame. No silence.

(If you're wondering what all this is about, go look at [livejournal.com profile] misia's journal.)

On one hand, I'm horrified by the number of people who have posted this meme. On the other hand, I'm very heartened.

Saddening, but I'm glad it's something that people are feeling ok to talk about now. It means that girls will grow up knowing the dangers, learning more ways to avoid them, learning that they *can* talk about them if it happens, and get help, and cope, and survive.

I didn't mean to say that I was horrified cuz people are talking about it, not at all! I'm glad they can talk about it, too. I was just ... I didn't expect that *number* of people speaking up!

That's exactly what I mean about being both horrified and heartened. Horrified at how many it applies to - heartened at how mnay are speaking up.

No, no, I realize! I'm just saying that historically it was a "shameful" thing that wasn't talked of - not even if the girl ended up dying! Believe it or not, I was agreeing with you. ;-)
