Yes, it's...

The Last Saskatchewan Pirate of the Caribbean!

'

Too damn funny, and excellently done!
(if you're thinking Pirates of the Carribean to The Arrogant Worms' The Last Saskatchewan Pirate, you nailed it!)

Wow!

From the looks of it (eleven pages of comments!) I may be the last person to find out about this, but thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tigerbright I just saw one of the best Firefly/Serenity videos I've seen, to an excellent song from Wicked.

Great way to start your day!

If you like Johnathan Coulton, Firefly, Harry Potter, or just really well done, funny fanvideos - try this one.

Funniest House video.
EVER.

Edit: and the SECOND funniest ever, made by the same person - in fact, looks like the whole set are good:

ACat and I just found out about one absolutely fantastic musician called Jonathan Coulton at OVFF, and bought up all we could from the dealer's room. I'm busy filking Skullcrusher Mountain, myself (don't you think there has to be a reply song to that from the girl's point of view? And do you really think he's got a clue?) but I ALSO found out through someone's LJ this morning (don't remember who, sorry) that someone's doing videos for those songs on YouTube, using video capture from (I think) World of Warcraft.

Good, funny, tightly made videos.

The best of them seem to be made by someone called Spiffworld, who has done videos you really shouldn't miss for:
First of May (I belive this is clearly labeled adult, but just in case, be aware it's very not safe for work for most jobs)
Code Monkey
Skullcrusher Mountain
Creepy Doll
Just As Long As Me

Seriously, Jonathan does excellent songs, and these videos are a great match. Check them out.

[livejournal.com profile] vixyish is an outstanding song writer and performer with such excellent songs to her credit as this year's Pegasus nominee "The Girl That's Never Been" (you may notice she's nominated for Best Writer/Composer, too, and from that lineup that's gonna be a really tough one to pick who to vote for!) but the one that brings me to tears every time is "Mal's Song". Anyone who's ever heard the theme song for Firefly will recognize the chorus, and anyone who's ever loved the show will fall for this song hard and fast. It doesn't get much better.

But it can get a little better - not one but two fan videos got made around it. If you're a Firefly fan, definitely check them out, and enjoy.

You have, I hope, heard of Dr Who? How about Avenue Q? If you know even one of these, you'll love this. Even if you don't, give it a try. Ok, it's a fanvid for Dr Who to "If You Were Gay", and it's soooo funny that ACat and I had to watch a second time because we were laughing too hard to catch it all the first time.

ACat showed this to me when I got home, and after a really crappy day it had me smiling through tears by the end. A Dr Who fanvideo to Ordinary Day by Great Big Sea. It's funny, sweet, has melancholy moments but no real angst, and a marvelous sense of timing. If this is the kind of thing you might like, you will like this. (I loved it!)

Just wanted to pass it on, and make sure I didn't lose it myself.

Wow!

I took notice of this because it's a fan video done to Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer's Tanglewood Tree, which is a gorgeous piece of music that I've never seen used for anything like this. I'm recommending it, though, because it's not even a fandom I'm familiar with (Anyone who can tell me much about Dead Zone? I've only vaguely heard of it, no idea how much it resembles the Stephen King story I'm assuming it's done off of) and I can still clearly see that it's a beautifully done video, with a lot of care to make the details come out right.

It's good stuff, go watch!
