kitanzi: (firefly in my bunk - by fadeto)
On the twelfth day of Christmas, kitanzi sent to me...
Twelve genetics drumming
Eleven puns snuggling
Ten bookstores a-filking
Nine backrubs cooking
Eight words a-reading
Seven books a-singing
Six filkers a-hugging
Five ba-a-a-ack rubs
Four word puzzles
Three filk conventions
Two urban legends
...and a sex in a firefly.

I think the icon pretty much covers it. *grin*

The perfect summer action movie...

(Yeah, I think I did actually scare the cats laughing at that one!)

Edit: and something shiny from Something Awful to go with!

I'm sure there will be others out there who think these are as perfect as I do - Heros images with Firefly quotes! Brilliant!

[livejournal.com profile] vixyish is an outstanding song writer and performer with such excellent songs to her credit as this year's Pegasus nominee "The Girl That's Never Been" (you may notice she's nominated for Best Writer/Composer, too, and from that lineup that's gonna be a really tough one to pick who to vote for!) but the one that brings me to tears every time is "Mal's Song". Anyone who's ever heard the theme song for Firefly will recognize the chorus, and anyone who's ever loved the show will fall for this song hard and fast. It doesn't get much better.

But it can get a little better - not one but two fan videos got made around it. If you're a Firefly fan, definitely check them out, and enjoy.

Wheee!

Remember the Simarillion in 1000 words? Well, this is Serenity in 2000 words or less. It's incredibly funny, and, not surprisingly, THOROUGHLY FILLED WITH SPOILERS. If you're seen the movie, check it out. Brilliantly, hysterically funny!

For the ongoing Firefly quote meme, here's one so thoroughly without context I don't think anyone can object, and it makes me smile.

"Bye now. Have good sex!" (Kaylee)

Wash
You are Wash. Not only are you a great pilot, you
are also the joker of the group. Your devotion
to your wife is admirable, though you sometimes
feel insecure. Thank god you shaved off your
moustache.

Which Firefly character are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Don't think so. On the other hand, none of the others seem quite a right fit either. Which makes me wonder just why I took this silly quiz in the first place....

fanfic fun

Perhaps this another one that everyone but me knows about already, but I think this is a great idea, well executed. People sign up to do a thoughtful, detailed character analysis of various characters from their favorite books or movies, including many minor, often neglected characters (and a few relatively obscure fandoms as well!) I've only read a handful but they've been good quality and entirely interesting - and some of my favorite fandoms are there or coming up, including Firefly!

For anyone who has been waiting for the Firefly DVD, it came out today. I got home, ACat had it (of course) and we just saw the pilot again.

I had forgotten how much I adore this show. I won't say everything is perfect - but it's so very, very close. It still gives me happy shivers down my spine, and we still keep interrupting it to point out all the particularly good details to eachother!

See this show. If you want, come see it at our place, we'll have a party! But whatever you do, see it.

I never get worked up over TV shows. There's rarely anything worth getting excited about, and when there is it almost always dies within a season or two. Guess what?
Firefly's the first show I've made a point of being home for in... well, ever, I think. So, yep, they cancelled it - on Friday the 13th, if you want to get silly about it. There are a few episodes in the can yet to air, and there's some slight hope that UPN or someone will pick it up, but I refuse to get my hopes up too much here. It started out good, and has been steadily working up to incredible, and I love everything about it. Naturally, it's dead in the water.
Go figure.

Firefly

I don't watch TV much, and I haven't gotten hooked on a series in years. However.. I just saw the premiere of Firefly and if this series stays this good, well, all I can say is IT ROCKS!
This has the potential to be the best damn series I have ever seen, I think. Millions of details that just add up really well, sharp and funny dialogue, excellent characters and a couple scenes that had us shouting and laughing aloud. This is definitely on my Friday night agenda now! (Ok, end of promo, I just had to say it since I'm grinning and babbling here!)
