kitanzi: (hey you - iconomania)
[personal profile] kitanzi
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a spatula, either way.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

(From many and sundry - I've been slack about answering everyone else's, I'll try to backtrack and do that but I've been pretty wiped out today.)

Having you over for the xmas party...worrying that you were a non-drinker, and warning yout that the wassail had kick...you responding with "kick is good. As are warnings of said." ;)~

*G* Well, yes... to both! I remember that party, I really enjoyed it although I had been a bit nervous about a party hanging out with so many people that I didn't know terribly well at that point. You throw a very good party. :)

Taking you off to the back hallway at OVFF to actually talk directly about what we'd been circling around all weekend. Telling you that you were adorable, and asking very timidly "May I kiss you?".

I did not touch the ground again for hours.

Four years later, I'm still floating.

Awwwww.... I have no idea where to even start. I know right now I greatly treasure the memory of you sitting by me and holding my hand through that extraction yesterday. *kiss* You play it down, but it made a huge difference to me. I still hate dentists - I just don't hate THESE dentists!

Ok, I'm too tired to play this game now. I'm starting to have memories of having been at your place when you told me the story of whatever-it-was exploding all over the place and you still finding bits of it years later. Time for me to go to bed.

Date: 2005-11-03 11:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitanzi.livejournal.com
*hug* You don't have to play it at all - I wasn't trying to push anyone on that. I am confused, though - have you ever actually been to our place? Hope you slept well!

Date: 2005-11-03 01:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] braider.livejournal.com
My point exactly. I was quite willing to play, but was trying to reach back for older memories of everyone rather than recent ones. I realized how tired I was when my mind started obligingly inventing memories for me.

It'll be interesting, when I eventually see your place, to see how little the decor looks like what's set in my head. ;-)

Date: 2005-11-03 04:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitanzi.livejournal.com
Ahhhh, I get it! Yeah, tell me what it looks like in your head - I bet it's a lot cleaner! *G*

From: [identity profile] braider.livejournal.com
Hmm. What's in my head doesn't actually match everything I've heard, but...

The only room I can visualize is the living room. The couch is very square and somewhat low, but it's extremely comfortable. I'm seeing it as a kind of tan color. The floor is basic apartment-bland. The couch is closer to the TV than I'm really comfortable with - eye strain and all - and the TV is larger than mine. There are medium-height shelves filled with books and clutter. I have the feeling of there being not a whole lot of free space. The door, which is to the right of the couch as you look at the TV (Why would the couch not be against the wall? but I'm definitely standing behind the back right corner of the couch) is a fairly bright wood color, and you can see the grain. (Which is almost certainly wrong, since you can almost never see the grain this way in rental units). There are a few smudges on the ceiling and walls.

So, how entirely poorly did I do?

Date: 2005-11-04 02:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitanzi.livejournal.com
Ummm... well, you got the smudges right. :) And the books!

Want me to send you some photos from the digital camera?

Date: 2005-11-04 02:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] braider.livejournal.com
Hmm...I was gonna say no, not necessary, but sure - what the heck! (Quite daring of me, you'll agree).

...do you get the feeling that life has become fairly, well, regular for me lately?

Naval Warfare? *G* That's a fun one, especially as you start into the first chorus and everyone starts to figure it out.

We have our share of memories from the years up here before you moved south, don't we? I'll do what I did
for Autographed Doc's iteration of this meme - first impressions.

At the May '99 MASSFILC house filk Chosen One and I were hosting, you and your ex (F) showed up. You were
quite new to filking then, iirc, and you and F were sitting in the dining room on the periphery of the
circle. Your uncomfortableness and positioning reminded me very much of that famous [see Subject] old farmer
and wife painting. Minus the pitch fork, of course. :)

To be fair, *I* was still "in my shell" at that point. Getting to know you at ConCertino '99 and after
helped with my, ahem, coming out? ;)

We miss you.
Ann O.

Yep, you've mentioned that impression before - yikes! Well, I remember telling you F and I were breaking up and I was moving to GA. That was an unhappy talk, but thanks for not making it even harder. *hug*

GaFilk 2005. The "virtual hot tub" party with you, [livejournal.com profile] nrivkis, [livejournal.com profile] mnemex, and whoever happened to pass by that corner of the hotel at the time.

Oh, definitely the time you you flipped a truck on that unplanned trip to Quebec because the boa constrictor escaped from its cage and got under the brake pedal. The cops didn't ever pin the blame for that boa-strangled guy dead on the toilet on you, did they?

On the in person stuff, the best I can do is "the smiling blonde lady with the big teddybear in the Hat. Right, my friends have mentioned these people, I hope I'll eventually get to know them better."

ROTFLMAO! Oh, that makes a great laugh to start the day with. I'd like a chance to get to know you better, too - I'm sorry to say I'm not coming up with any specific memory, and that's a shame.

The day that Lyn and I visited, and watching your face as you discovered for yourself that Lyn was a cool person, and really did love me after all. The approval in your's and AC's eyes was all I was really looking for. Right then I got final confirmation that I wasn't making a mistake. If you two like Lyn, *and* my mom does too, then I must be doing something right.

The perfect cornbread & BBQ was simply a bonus.

Hugs!
Dan

Heh, I'm very glad! My memory would be the first time I met you - I think ACat was just as much anxious to make sure you and I approved of each other as you were to be sure we approved of Lyn. :)

I don't specifically remember that, but it's likely. My memory is the first time I heard you sing your lullaby, and the evil laughter that was trying to fight it's way out behind your "who, me?" smile!

I'll pick the time you bailed me out at the last Concertino, taking over the con suite so we could get some dinner. Thank you all over again.

Oh, you're very welcome! I remember a really ASTONISHING turkey dinner you two cooked for one Massfilc meeting. Absolutely delicious, and remarkably elaborate!

From: [identity profile] victorthecook.livejournal.com
Well, my reasoning at the time was: It's fall, and I have about 20 people coming. What will feed that many people? A really big turkey.

I think that's the time where we got carried away baking pies, too. I was so thrilled with using the food processor to make pie dough that we ended up with something like 10 pies.

Brief chats and warm hugs early in the consuite one morning - maybe at OVFF.

The first time I met you (at OVFF, I think), you were incredibly sweet to me, and told me about MassFilk and put me in touch with the group - I think that was the first time I realized that there were other filkers in New England, and that the group included very nice people....

Date: 2005-11-04 10:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitanzi.livejournal.com
Ah yes! And I seem to remember you were very unsure about it because you didn't want to impose yourself on people you didn't know, and I kept trying to tell you they'd love to have you involved. Was I right, or was I right? :)
