I woke up bright and early this morning and headed out to the doctor's office for my closed MRI scan on my shoulder. Believe me, nothing wakes you up as thoroughly as the level of sheer, skull piercing noise those things make. This time I was smart, and they gave me earplugs, which made it far more tolerable, but still fairly skull piercing. I got there early, got slipped in a little early, got out in good time, got to work at a very reasonable hour, and smugly told myself that at least starting the day with a skull piercing closed MRI meant that everything else that day would be quiet and peaceful in comparison.

Ha.

About a half hour, forty minutes later, we have a FIRE DRILL. A skull piercing, brain shaking, eardrum popping cacophany of a FIRE DRILL, just as I'm trying to organize my crap and get some real work done.

Someone needs to remind me when to shut up, even in my own head. The universe is listening in, and laughing.

we had one of those earspliting fire alarms the other day. i didn't hear word of whether it was a drill, a mistake, or for real.

I only know because I asked afterwards, having not seen any fire trucks. It's a damn good thing it was nothing but a drill, seeing how slow everyone was to get moving. I just wanted OUT of the building and AWAY from those unbearably loud, shrill sirens.

*hugs* I love it too, but I didn't make it. The credit information's on the icon page, I don't recall who did offhand but when I saw it I immediately glommed onto it!

Larissa, You need earplugs at work anyway. I doubt your boss is any more pleasant than the fire alarms. (grins)

*hug* I hate MRIs because they're so uncomfortable and noisy. (Well, they're uncomfortable for me, at least, since I have to lie flat with my knees down, which puts a lot of stress on my lower back.) And so noisy! I always think that it sounds like the machine is trying to tear itself to pieces around me.

I really hope the rest of your day is nice and quiet and peaceful. *hug*

Hmmm.... they offered me a pad to put under my knees or one for under my lower back if I wanted. Do they not do that for you?

They can't do that when they're scanning the lower back because they need everything to be flat. Which is hard on my back.

Ahhh, of course. I hadn't thought of that.
