Permanent accounts

From my friends list, it looks like quite a few people sprang for the permanent account during the sale. The most common reason, when there was one mentioned, seemed to be the expanded number of icons. I've lost track of who all got one, but if anyone cares to speak up, I'd love to go peek at your huuuuge collection of icons and see the good stuff!

Well, I've now got a Permanent account, but I have only 9 icons loaded, as of now :-) Feel free to look, tho' (and I won't turn down any that look interesting; I've been thinking I need more for various moods, but haven't bothered to look for some or make some myself).

Actually ... I am aware of the fact that I will never ever EVER use 100 pics ... the biggest reason was me being geeky and stupid *g* ... and the "oh, maybe this is THE opportunity to get one ... another opportunity might only come up in three year's time or such" ... :)

See, for me, the thing was... I hardly ever use any alternate icons for myself. And, if I want to put pics online, I have my own domain and several other places (e.g., Yahoo briefcase) that I can tuck 'em. So, I had no incentive to spend the money.

I didn't get one, cause I am not sure if LJ will still be around in 6 years time, let alone computers, the net as we know it, ... . And I know I'd fill up those 100 icons and then still want space for more! :-)

I already had one and wasn't using the 50 icons I already had. 100 just boggles me. I think I've got about 30; they tend to be topic- or mood-themed, with some just-plain-pretty/nifty mixed in.

i almost never use the non-default icons as it is. but there are a few other reasons why i might want to have a paid account.

When I was a free user, I thought 15 icons would be more than enough. Now that I'm a paid user, they mostly are. I could use a few more, though, so I don't have to swap them in or out.

did it for another reason, figured out i still can't do what i wanted, with a paid account, went for filling up the icons instead. =)

I got one, but it was a birthday present. :) As for reasons, not having to worry about remembering to pay for the account, the extra icon space, who know when such a sale might be offered again, etc. My iconage is mostly LOTR the movie and Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (GL gave the saga a grand finish IMHO), but there are other goodies as well to be found there. I still don't think that a hundred spaces is emough--there are tons of great icon makers out there, and I want to honor all my fav makers, but that's difficult. Greatest Journal allows a thousand, but they are also supported by adverstising, which is yucky. I think that LJ ought to allow the users to make their own choices about what parts of the service they might need and want. For example, I have no need of phone posts, and would gladly give that up for more user pic space. I would also gladly pay for more icon space.
