Weight loss programs I will NOT be trying

NYC is making a great fuss over the first case of bubonic plague to be diagnosed there in over a century, apparently imported by visitors from New Mexico, where it's rather more common. Well, not too common, I hope, but they certainly aren't declaring it a historic event. Anyhow, I was talking about this with autographedcat who mentioned a story he had head on filkhaven (so a number of you have probably already heard this) of a man who caught the plague and lost about 160 lbs in the course of a few weeks before it was diagnosed and successfully treated?!? My mind is really boggling on this, but still, I can somehow see National Inquirer headlines: Amazing New Weight Loss Tool - closely guarded secret of the ancients - strip away the most stubborn of fat deposits, lose half your bodyweight in 2-3 weeks guaranteed or your money back!
The scariest part is that I think someone out there would buy it....

Hmm, dunno that NYC counts as a VILLAGE, per se. For that matter, it's not longer near me in any remotely reasonable sense of the word either! (And no, it had better NOT come any nearer to me, either - village or no!)
