You may or may not have sat down and figured it out, but this is not only a leap year, it's an unusual leap year. Due to how the calendar falls this year, there are 53 Thursdays and Fridays, and many companies will have an extra payday to deal with. Some companies are just giving out an extra pay check, some are trying to prorate things so that the same yearly earning is stretched over an extra week. Some are apparently just having kittens while trying to figure out WHAT to do.

If you don't know which your company is doing and would like to, you may want to ask. If you're curious - or want to be able to tell your employer - what many companies are doing, check out:

Hmm, I guess for companies paying monthly that just doesn't matter at all... still, interesting little fact, and no, I hadn't worked it out. Heck, I hadn't even conciously noticed yet that it *is* a leap year and we have a 29th this month...
;) *hugs*

Occupational hazard - the whole department got email about it, and I thought it might be useful and unrecognized enough to be worth mentioning. A lot of companies seem to be simply giving that extra week and not bothering to even mention it, but not all. The ones who are trying to correct for it are finding it to be a hell of a bother, sounds like!

Darn. And here I get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month, so it isn't going to affect me any.

I could use an extra paycheck. :)

I get paid on the 1st and 15th of each month. Saves no end of trouble.

And I'm sure there are at least some companies NOT doing that which will change now!
