First day today - this is not a physically demanding job, but when everything is new from the names of everyone you meet to where to find the cafeteria to choosing passwords that you HAVE to remember then it's just exhausting. I think I'm gonna like it there, though. It seems like a good place, good people, and I think it's somewhere that I'll still be content with even after the shiny newness wears off.

They seem to value their employees, and actually work at showing it and keeping them happy. This is a novelty I could well get accustomed to!

It's not surprising that you're exhausted. First day on the job can indeed be quite demanding. I'm glad you survived, and with a positive outlook. Good work, lass!

PS - A small but overlooked plus: at least you get to pick your own passwords, rather than having to memorize some random alpha(numeric)bet soup the system generates for you.

Sounds good. I hope the whole first week will be as good as the first day, getting less exhaustive as you go along and get some repetition under your job-belt. May your estimate be right, may you be happy and appreciated there for as long as you chose to stay.

*hug*

Well, today was 8 solid hours of studying a text and a computer tutorial/quiz program to supplement it, with a much needed hour break for lunch. My head is buzzing with payroll stuff and tax stuff in exhaustive detail - but I think I made a very good start on it. That appears to be what I'll be doing for most of this week!

Still, I like the place and I like the people, and it's very ironic that I'm essentially TAKING an accounting class for training here after having planned to do one online and then passing on it once I found I had a new job! >:)

Glad your first day went well. Hope it continues along that line. Hang in there; the first few days/weeks of anything big and new is often tiring.

It's just the very steep learning curve - it'll get better, I know!
