NYC is making a great fuss over the first case of bubonic plague to be diagnosed there in over a century, apparently imported by visitors from New Mexico, where it's rather more common. Well, not too common, I hope, but they certainly aren't declaring it a historic event. Anyhow, I was talking about this with [livejournal.com profile] autographedcat who mentioned a story he had head on filkhaven (so a number of you have probably already heard this) of a man who caught the plague and lost about 160 lbs in the course of a few weeks before it was diagnosed and successfully treated?!? My mind is really boggling on this, but still, I can somehow see National Inquirer headlines: Amazing New Weight Loss Tool - closely guarded secret of the ancients - strip away the most stubborn of fat deposits, lose half your bodyweight in 2-3 weeks guaranteed or your money back!
The scariest part is that I think someone out there would buy it....

Patience has never been a virtue of mine. Stubbornness, yes, if you can class it as a virtue, but never patience. I'm sitting, waiting for my sweetheart. I know he's fine, I know he's just a little longer at the hospital so they can be sure all the bleeding is under control post-operation (severely deviated septum and scarring in the sinuses from severe and chronic problems, for those not already informed) and then he'll be home just as soon as safely possible ... I know I can't do a damn thing to make it any easier or any faster. I know I have a whole extravagant list of plans for spoiling him rotten and doing any damn thing I can think of to make the next couple weeks less tedious and painful for him, but I also know that what I can do for that is pretty limited.
I hate that.
I hate this.
Did I mention I'm not very damned patient?

home again!

He's home, safe and sound and sore, and the walls aren't too badly scratched up from me climbing them! Just promised to let people know, so here you go!
