I'm 36. I'm originally from Gadsden, Alabama but have lived in Georgia since 1977 (mostly in the suburbs of Atlanta). I live in Stone Mountain with my life partner, sambear, and our kids real_pochacco, shadowkatt and littlefirefae. I'm currently a full-time homeschooling parent. I met you through your then partner -- at first online, and then when you came down to Gafilk in 2001. I fell in love with you almost instantly, and we spent many months chatting online, completely unaware that our attractions were mutual. The next time we saw each other, at OVFF later that same year, everything clicked into place. Six months later, you moved to Atlanta so we could be closer, and we've been inseperable ever since.

Since then, I've watched you fall in love with one of my best friends and transform him from one of the saddest people I know to one of the happiest people I know, and I love you for that and for many other reasons, not least of which is your graceful candor, a trait I wish I could learn from you.

I do remember getting to know you here, then meeting you in person when I came down for Sci-Fi Summer last year. Since then, you have become an important friend to both Dee and me.

I met you at a house filk I think. I heard many many wonderful things (all true!) about you before I met you, however. Later after you got your live journal, we added each other and began to communicate through that medium as well.

Since I stayed with you and your beloved this last weekend, you've already learned quite a bit about me. So, I'll come up with some odd extra bit. I'm addicted to Children's magazines! I now subscribe to Cricket, Ladybug (that one is Simon's actually), Odyssey, Faces, Calliope, and Muse. Why? Because, once I got past the core curriculum in college, almost everything I've read has been fiction or music books. I remember devouring lot's of good nonfiction books when I was a kid, and I tend to think that many kid's nonfiction books are better-written than adult-geared books on the same subjects. (I also subscribe to Herb Companion, Gardening, Cooking, Clavier, Parents, and American Music Teacher. I'm thinking about adding Smithsonian to the list too.)

OK. Chosen One and I were hosting a M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C. house filk on Saturday,
April 17, 1999. Sitting in the back, way in the back, far far away in the back, were
a couple of neos doing an American Gothic imitation. One of them was you.

About three months later on Friday, July 9, I was helping to set up the con suite at
ConCertino '99 when what to my wondering eyes should appear but those same
two neos, now willing victims for Robin's fabulous con suite. The rest, as they say, is
a long and winding road.

I, too, live on Sol III (Say, we all do!). I'm 42, male, a database administrator in sunny (damn it too sunny) Phoenix. I play various sizes of mandolin. Missed Consonance this year because I was in a play.
