Just cause it's fun...
Apr. 23rd, 2003 11:24 amAnother meme, stolen from too many to list:
If I'm on your friends list, how do you know me? Even if it's obvious,
even if you know me RL, please comment with a short blurb about
how you know me.
Also, please give a tiny little biological blurb about yourself. Tell me
how old you are, where you're from, a little relevant information like
that.
If you read my journal but don't have an LJ account, leave a comment
anyway - yes, Ann, this means you! *G*

Date: 2003-04-23 09:42 am (UTC)And *then* we met again at OVFF 2002 where I surprise-hugged you in the elevator.
I'm 35yrs old, living alone in Hamburg, Germany, in the most wonderful appartment (blaaah, blahhhh :)), hooked on music and travel and meeting my filk family in regular intervals, and happily in love with a guy from your side of the ocean (suuure, I'm never crazy, am I? ;-))

Date: 2003-04-23 09:54 am (UTC)I know you through filk, of course. I think the first time we met was the dinner run after Conterpoint (the one in the bad hotel where we ended up going on a dinner run to Outback and waited forever).
I'm 41 years old, an underemployed programmer/analyst from Long Island, New York, USA, North America, Sol III. I already own more guitars than I can play, but one can never have too many guitars

Date: 2003-04-23 03:58 pm (UTC)Since I stayed with you and your beloved this last weekend, you've already learned quite a bit about me. So, I'll come up with some odd extra bit. I'm addicted to Children's magazines! I now subscribe to Cricket, Ladybug (that one is Simon's actually), Odyssey, Faces, Calliope, and Muse. Why? Because, once I got past the core curriculum in college, almost everything I've read has been fiction or music books. I remember devouring lot's of good nonfiction books when I was a kid, and I tend to think that many kid's nonfiction books are better-written than adult-geared books on the same subjects. (I also subscribe to Herb Companion, Gardening, Cooking, Clavier, Parents, and American Music Teacher. I'm thinking about adding Smithsonian to the list too.)

Date: 2003-04-23 07:05 pm (UTC)April 17, 1999. Sitting in the back, way in the back, far far away in the back, were
a couple of neos doing an American Gothic imitation. One of them was you.
About three months later on Friday, July 9, I was helping to set up the con suite at
ConCertino '99 when what to my wondering eyes should appear but those same
two neos, now willing victims for Robin's fabulous con suite. The rest, as they say, is
a long and winding road.
Any of you who read my comment to Autographed Doc's "Who Are All You People,
Anyway?" entry might want to skip the following. You've already read it.
Following are the (im)pertinent datums you requested.
How old am I? Too.
Residence? Massachusetts, U. S. A., Sol III
Species? Half Capricorn / half Vulcan / half Accountant (and part White Dragon)
(What's that you say? Do the math? :)
Marital status? Hopelessly monogamous, heterosexual only, old married dinosaur.
Martial status? Totally nonviolent.
Mental status? A queer old duck with a sick and twisted mind.
Religion? Fundamentalist Agnostic.
Passions? My Chosen One, science fiction and fantasy, M.A.S.S. F.I.L.C., mangling
innocent words, model railroading.
Name? Ann, this means you!

Date: 2003-04-24 08:14 pm (UTC)We met fifteen years ago, when I first decided to become real. You rescued me from a small girl who lived near you, who treated me harshly and kept mussing my golden curls with strawberry jam. You brushed the stickiness from my hair, and found me a new dress, and taught me that humanity was something to be aspired to, rather than dreaded. And though my path has since led me away from you, memories of your kindness hold my cracked and chipped shell together as I travel.
