kitanziGafilk is dead, long live Gafilk?
Well, maybe not quite that drastic, but Gafilk 11 is a wrap, and on the whole pretty damn good. This was![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
autographedcat's first solo year as the Con Chair after failing his saving roll to dodge the honor when bedlamhouse moved out of state, and he did a great job. The most pervasive complaint I heard of was that we were shuffled into a smaller space downstairs rather than the better and larger space upstairs which we had last year due to communication problems at the hotel and a large group that was booked for that space at the same time. They have been good about all sorts of concessions this year in apology, and after speaking to them when we closed out today we have verbal assurances that it will be much better next year.
The good far outweighed the bad, though. It's almost a cliche that the concom doesn't really attend their own con, being too busy, but being treasurer gives me a lot more latitude during the con itself than most positions. (There were some blood, sweat and tears in balancing the books at the con and pulling together the deposit today, but I didn't have nearly as much of my life eaten as poor ACat.) Some friends I hardly see outside of conventions, so Gafilk is doubly precious for that. This year I also managed to kidnap my sweetiesfeley away to our revels and he seemed to have a good enough time that I have hopes he may come again. (I also heard from at least a half dozen different people that NRE apparently looks really good on me. *grin*) The Slinky Red Dress of Doom, however, did not make an appearance. It has been put on hold temporarily and is hanging in my closet as a somewhat daunting diet aid. I have promised several people, including andpuff, that I plan to bring it next year.
Unfortunately, our magic humidifier seems to have finally failed to prevent the concrud, and I'm not used to coming home with a cold anymore but that's just what I've managed to do. Me and my Nyquil are going to go take our ten second attention span and flake out in front of the tv or something, but thank you to everyone who came and made this my favorite annual weekend long party!
