the better side of the holiday
Nov. 28th, 2008 04:33 pmJust to clear the mental taste of that last one out of my brain, I would like to say that my Thanksgiving was great.
ACat had wanted to have time for lots of WoW, and though he didn't mean to wake up quite as insanely early as he did (sneezing fits while wearing a CPap machine will do that to you!) he did get in quite a lot of it before we went off for TDay dinner with a whole slew of friends. I slept in for the first time in ages and ages (or so it felt) and woke up feeling actually rested, which I am MOST thankful for!
I played puzzle games on the computer and eventually dragged ACat off for a shower (cleanliness being next to... ahem, well, having fun getting dirty again!) then had fun making an enormous gingerbread and pumpkin trifle with rather more spiced rum than I'd planned on but hey, boozy trifle is traditional, right? In any case, it was a hit at the dinner so I'm happy with that. Lots of good company including many people I had not seen in... oh god, six months or more? Ouch. Several seem to have been persuaded to show up at our next movie night, however, so that's all to the good! The two kids were overall well behaved and sweet, and cute enough that they could have probably gotten away with NOT being either. *grin*
I love getting a kid fix off of other people's kids. This tends to confuse many people - no, I don't want any. No, I don't dislike them. In fact, want a babysitter/aunt? Fortunately, none of my actual friends are of the sort who gasp "But what's WRONG with you?" if I say this. (This is not a coincidence.)
Anyhow, long story short, TDay was good, and I'm not a person who mobs at Walmart or any store in the wee hours of the morning on Black Friday to save five dollars. (Yes, I know, the sales are often much better than that, and not everyone mobs insanely. I'm glad - I'd hate to have the Black designation be more morbid that it's origins.)

Of all the things to badger someone into, trying to nag them into having a child seems like the absolutely worst and most inappropriate and just, well, obnoxious. What decision could be more personal? Sheesh.
Anyway. I'm glad I know you and our mutual friends. :)
