I've noticed that to someone on a diet, talking about the diet is fascinating. To someone who is NOT on a diet, it's about as exciting as watching a snowbank melt.

I've been on the Atkins nutrition plan since a week before Thanksgiving (though not consistently strict about it). As of today I have lost 25 pounds and I'm down to 190. This is, to me, very spiffy! I do want to lose around another 25, but this is roughly halfway to where I want to be, and I'm quite pleased.

Just for icing on the cake, I had a physical a couple weeks ago and the blood work came back, proclaiming me to be in perfect health. My cholesterol is slightly elevated, but not to any worrying levels, and the doctor says I'm in fine shape, and approves of Atkins. I wasn't sure he would, so it's another good thing.

Congratulations Larissa!!!

Staying on a diet is *hard work.* I occasioanly go on the Scarsdale diet to shed weight (usually about 10 lbs).

Many kudos to you :-)

Congratulations Larissa! I went off induction after two weeks, so mine has slowed down a bit. (13 pounds), but it's still nice. I know what you mean about the diet conversations. I feel like I have to really restrain myself not to just start babbling about it. It's just so cool that it actually works!

(That Manhattan Clam Chowder in the Atkin's book is really good, by the way. I don't know if you've tried it yet.)

Nope, I haven't - don't have the book. Could you email me that? :)

Yay!

That's wonderful to hear! I've lost about 50 or so, so far. I would suspect that the next time you go to the doctor, you'll find your cholesterol level decreased, that's what happened with me. (In that, you may have had more elevation before you started the diet, and it's bringing it down.) My doctor didn't specifically approve of atkins, but I was seeing her about ever four weeks for a problem with my leg, so she saw that every time I came in I was down ten pounds or so, my blood pressure was lower, and the bloodwork kept coming back better. :)

The interesting thing is that though my cholesterol is up some, my ratio between good and bad cholesterol is outstanding - all in all, like I said, I'm quite pleased. I'm keeping my copy of the lab work results, for comparison next year. (Yep, I really and truly expect to still be on some maintenance version of this then, which is an amazing and wonderful thing to me! :))
As a bonus, I just tried on some clothes I had outgrown but couldn't bear to give up. The wrap skirts fit much better, and the jeans are still tight but no longer feel like tourniquets. Yaaay!
