Adventures in Georgia

Well, I've been busy. Happy, exhausted, busy - the best kind.
maedbh7 is visiting with us, and I think enjoying herself as much as we are. She came in last Thursday and will be leaving early this Thursday, and we are going to miss the hell out of her.
autographedcat picked her up at the airport and took the rest of the day off for fun and socialization and stuff, and we both had to work and leave her to her own devices on Friday - she explored Atlanta and the limitations of websites that don't bother to mention which days things are actually open - but Saturday was great. We had a lot of hanging out, got to go to a used book store and a toy store and a craft store and do various fun stuff, then we all trooped off to the filk. It was great fun, especially since there were several people there who don't often make it. We slipped out for a marvelous sushi dinner with
quadrivium's husband Wes, then came back for more music and eventually stumbled home at about 2 am. This wouldn't have been so much a problem except that we were planning on the Georgia Renissance Festival the next morning. We mentioned this to
bedlamhouse, who immediately perked his ears - so almost exactly eight hours after we left there, we pulled back into the same driveway and the four of us headed off - in full garb - to the Faire.
That was absolutely great! It was a gorgous day, and the only improvement might have been a touch cooler, or a bit breezier. Maedbh7 is a veteran of Faires, and between her,
telynor and the craft shop the day before we were well kitted out. We were well equipped with sunscreen and water as well, and we had a blast. If you get a chance to go, definitely catch The Lost Boys, and also Mickle-A-Do (I think I'm not getting the name quite right but it's close) and the Awalim Tribal Dance company, the best belly dancers I have ever seen. I think the food stalls offered everything under the sun that could be stuck on a stick, and a few I wouldn't have thought could be - mac and cheese on a stick!?
The crafters and costumers were amazing if pricey, and we came home with a very swashbuckling plumed hat for ACat. We mean to go back again some time this summer, and if we do we just may get a Three Musketeers style tabard to go with it, and even a sword. One of us will certainly put up the photos Maedbh7 took, eventually. Bedlamhouse also outfitted himself, picking up a very nice beret, a leather sporran and a linen shirt to go with his kilt - damn nice! Maedbh7 and I looked more than purchased this time, but our turn will come, oh yes! (In the meantime, we had fun admiring ACat's very dashing swagger - he looked GOOD! *G*)We made a full day of it, coming in around noon and staying until they kicked everyone out after the pub sing, sometime around 7.
Sweaty, dusty, elated and exhausted we came home, cleaned up a bit and went out to a local steakhouse with Telynor and her son, although Bedlamhouse had other things he had to go do. The lot of us came back home in a semi-vegitative state and sat around in various degrees of stupor, while Telynor's son persisted in demonstrating the energy level a twelve year old boy usually has. When he reaches our advanced decreptitude, I hope he has a twelve year old around to make him feel old and feeble. *G*
Telynor was not well, and getting visibly sicker as the night went on so I made an executive decision and asked her to please not drive home - I wasn't sure they'd make it. She and her son stayed overnight and were welcome. :) I do hope she's feeling better.
Monday I'd had the foresight to arrange to take a vacation day for, which was very welcome. ACat had to go to work, unfortunately, but Maedbh7 and I met up with him and his coworker
eloren for a very nice lunch at a local chinese bistro which we'd been curious about. The food was good, the company was great, it was a very nice time. They had to go back to work afterwards but we went back home and had a very low key afternoon talking, snoozing and snuggling. Finally I insisted that I really did have to get groceries (I'd procrastinated on that all weekend) or we'd have very limited choices for dinner, so we got motivated and out of the house. Harry's is always a fun place to show off, but I discovered that they are MUCH stingier about the piles of yummy samples on weekday evenings. *sigh*
Once ACat got home, we made a quick trip before dinner to the local Godiva Chocolate shop and got a little of this, a little of that, a lot of really good stuff to share around once we got home. After dinner we played 1000 Blank Cards which was a hit, and a game of Chez Geek, and then I reluctantly crashed to get some sleep, since I'd already demonstrated entirely too well how bitchy I get when I'm overtired back at the filk.
Now I'm back at work catching up (I started this entry something like four or five hours ago!), ACat is fighting fires at work (or maybe just writing filk songs), and Maedbh7 just caught a ride home from the busstop with me as I went home for lunch, and is probably going to write all about her adventures at the puppet show. :)
Me, I'm happy. I'm very happy. Thursday is gonna suck, but right now I'm happy.
