Indeed, Miss Manners has come to believe that the basic political
division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives
but between those who believe that they should have a say in the love
lives of strangers and those who do not.

And do either you or [livejournal.com profile] autographed_cat have a citation for that?

Thanks in advance --

That's great!

Though I might generalize it to "in the lives of strangers" -- while love lives attract a lot of attention, they're not the only sources of meddling.

Nope, he says it came out of alt.quotations, without any further citation. If you find one, let me know!

I suppose I'm being a bit picky, but I'd change 'strangers' to 'others'. Whether one knows the other person or not, it's still a case of 'MYOB, please'. If I were a theist, I'd probably quote the Golden Rule. But I'm neither a theist nor Miss Manners. :)

Well, you'll have to take that up with Miss Manners - I won't be changing it, because it was a quote, or at least presented to me as one. :)
