kitanzi: (Least I Could Do - oh wow)
I never heard of Good Search until I found it through a nonprofit website the other day, but it's a very interesting idea and appears to be entirely legit. Pick a nonprofit that's registered with them - anything from the ASPCA to the church of your choice (and if they aren't registered, it looks easy enough to do) - and use their site for your web searches. The search engine appears to be Yahoo's, for what that's worth, and they'll give a penny per search to your charity. That adds up faster than you'd think, especially if you use it at work, and they will let you track how much has been donated in the current year. The bigger money, however, appears to be that if shop through affiliated stores (Amazon, Ebay, Overstock, etc) they will donate a percentage of the purchase to your charity. If it's something you were planning on buying anyhow, it's a very easy way to practice a little bit of practical philanthropy. Can't hurt, might help, and it's the kind of thing that can grow enormously if people just - take a look.
