Yet again I have proved that, no matter how many times I read it, I can't make it through Mira Grant's book Feed without crying.

And I keep reading it.

Rise up while you can.

I recall her saying that she cried herself while writing that scene.

I'm so torn about reading this book! I know it would be fabulous, given the author, and yet, because I know just how vividly she writes, I'm afraid of ending up with nightmares, which I do so easily. (same reason I haven't read Tanya's Blood books, though I enjoy her fantasy books tremendously).

The gore is in large part off screen, but it also depends on how your nightmare triggers work. If, for example, your nightmare structure puts you in the position of being one of the characters, I can see how that would be triggery.

If your dreamscape just borrows elements and world-building, you should be fine.

For me, the most nightmarish aspect wasn't the gore (I've read much worse) but the constant danger of zombification hanging over everyone.

It's extremely well written, and I don't know if I would recommend it for you. If you're prone to nightmares, this is likely to give them to you - and while I can't give detail without spoiling, there's one death that I think you might possibly find triggery, at least in how the survivors respond.

Thank you very much! I'll stay away from it then. She writes enough wonderful stuff as Seanan that I don't need to try her Mira work. :)
