When last we saw our intrepid heroes they were heading to Quinze.

The con was wonderful! I met piles of people, all very friendly and easy to meet, and (once they were all properly name tagged) very easy to talk to! *G* I also got to see some Massfilc friends who agreed that it was preposterous to have to cross an ocean to see eachother, but what can you do. I observed that filkers in the UK have taken hugging to new heights and lengths, but are still very comfortable people, which was a delight.

The hotel was quite comfortable and pleasant, and the bar, which took on most of the functions of a con suite, was always busy though smoky. A lot of the goings-on went on there, but there was plenty of good programming too, including two great guests (Simon and Teri) and plenty of good music from many others. (To my eyes, this was one of the best run cons I have seen, and I told the concom members so on several occasions. I hope it got through the daze of exhaustion.)

I can't even try to list everything I liked, but highlights included: Teri's final song and the standing ovation that followed it; Simon and Da Boyz with their instant hit single "Meaningful Look At The Camera"; [livejournal.com profile] bardling doing some hauntingly lovely songs in German, including All Souls Night; [livejournal.com profile] cadhla corpsing damn near everybody at one time or another (and being very warmly snuggly between times, which I enjoyed); Annie Walker's heartwrenching song for Willow, "Seeing Red"; the lovely dancer (who I can't remember the name of, dammit) who danced to several songs in the course of the con, catching ALL eyes - she also sang beautifully along with [livejournal.com profile] bardling in her set; [livejournal.com profile] ladyat's eerie new song, which closed out the one shots; [livejournal.com profile] callylevy doing many things, beautifully; the N'Early Consort doing their usual sterling choral performance; Phoenix's entire roof raising set! (I had my usual hearing/brain overloading problems by not being careful, and had to run out and miss part of the set, but it was good stuff and I eventually compromised by standing in the back with my hands partly over my ears. I know I confused a number of people, but damn they were good. I did see some people had earplugs, but the ones we had I had tried on the plane and they were very irritating. The dancers - many of them gorgeously costumed for the Rock Chick/Guy contest - were great fun to watch, too! ACat has photos of EVERYTHING!)

Ok, that list of highlights could easily be three times longer, but this is getting ridiculous. Suffice to say, I had a great time and hated to see it end. I think every one else must have felt the same way, since most people seemed to stay over to Monday and even then took several hours of hugging and good byes in the lobby before reluctantly drifting away. ACat and I crammed into a small car along with our next lovely hostess, [livejournal.com profile] bardling, and [livejournal.com profile] filkerdave along with just barely short of too much combined luggage and puttered off to Gravesend for the rest of the week.

The dancer's name is Anja, she's from Hamburg, Germany, too ;-)
Yeah, it's wonderful watching her, and I was very happy that she danced to one of our songs.

You two were wonderful, too - and combining the song with the dancing was something I'd never seen at a con before. It made a great mix - but like I said, I could make that list 3 times as long and still not including everything. *hug* It was great getting to meet you!

If nobody's beat me to it, the lovely dancer was Anja (who it was a delight to finally meet, after hearing about her!)

You were indeed beaten to that answer - I'm sorry, sir, you do not get your points. Thank you for playing.
