3. You will update your lj with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Date: 2007-02-22 08:37 pm (UTC)1) The possibility of my IPs going psycho on me or becoming nasty or difficult to work with after I'm already pregnant and can't back out anymore.
2) Jenkitty. Take that in what sense thou wilt.
3) Deciding was easy. Persuading Manny was difficult. Jen helped with that. :)
4) Not to everyone at work, but to a specific work-friend who shared my office, once. It went mixed. She'd been talking with great interest about something involving open marriages that she heard on the radio, so I acknowledged that I knew something about them... first in an "I have friends whose marriages are like that," and then finally about myself. She was eager to learn about it but for several wrong reasons... turns out her marriage was in trouble due to her compulsive inability to stay faithful, and she was wondering whether negotiating terms for it would help. I frankly doubt it, both because her husband isn't a sort to be okay with that and because her compulsiveness ran in some fairly scary directions, like picking up strangers in bars without protection.
5) Abusive relationships, whether emotional or physical.

Date: 2007-02-23 02:44 am (UTC)2. A wonderful fellow named Roger Bennett had first accepted some of my short stories for publication in his Dragon's Lair Webzine, then asked me to become his Assistant Editor. After about a year of that, Roger decided it was time to close Dragon's Lair down and move on to other writing projects. This left me with a bit of a dilemma: I and several other DL writers had unpublished serial chapters that weren't going to see the light of day unless something got done really quickly. After discussions with Roger about my doing the work and he providing webspace for continuing DL, Roger talked me into starting my own webzine, offered all of DL's unfinished serials and the backlog of unpublished stories to get me started. ACat taught me all I knew at the time about the Internet and talked me through buying the webspace, creating the "Aphelion Look" and publicising the e-zine. I think that without ACat, Aphelion wouldn't have gotten started, nor would it have continued for very long.
The name "Aphelion" was the title of the UGA SF & F Club's quarterly print fanzine. I was a member of the group, had contributed a story and some poems, and paid for the bulk mailing permit for two years while I was in college. (Other members included Tom Deitz and C.S. Friedman.) Aphelion was my first choice for a title. I contacted friends from the club that had the rights to the name and got their permission to use it. And thus one of the dinosaurs of the Internet was born.
3. We'd love to come visit. But the factory is having bi-monthly shutdowns and causing me to play pinch-penny budgetary games, however. However, on the bright side, ApheliCon 3 is less than 90 days away. Furthermore, ACat mentioned that the two of you might be able to afford to go to July's LibertyCon in Chattanooga, which Lyn and I are also planning to attend. We'll have a great time there, I'm sure.
4. I'd love for someone to pay me to write! Stories, poetry, music, lyrics, home & garden design blueprints, scripts, furniture designs, props, sets, recording studio work, oil paintings... Whatever I can turn my various talents to doing. Offer me $300 to $500 a week and I'll produce whatever you need! Free me! I beg of you!
LOL! My main problem is that I know how to do so many things, but there's no market for 99% of them. Do you know of anyone who needs a man of myriad talents and cross-training in dozens of disciplines? I don't. (Sigh...)
5. (A)Scariest thing that I did without thinking about it? Or (B)scariest thing that I've done that other people wouldn't/shouldn't do?
Or (C)Scariest thing that's ever happened to me?
Scariest (A) was when I saved a fellow High School student from accidentally hanging himself at Band Camp one year. He was playing with a rope tied to a tree like a swing and fell down, a loop of rope went around his neck during the fall, I was the only one of the onlookers that wasn't frozen in shock and ran over to hoist him into the air until others could come over and undo the rope.
Scariest (B) would have to be riding my mororcycle in 90 MPH rush hour traffic on a trip between Texas and Florida. Not for the faint of heart!
Scariest (C) was watching a cocaine-crazed leader of a gang of thugs who had just beaten the crap out of a black couple at a party that the thugs had crashed point a huge pistol at my best friend- knowing that my own pistol was locked in the glove box of my truck 40 yards away, on the other side of the gang -and knowing that I was absolutely helpless should the thug decide to murder my friend. Since that day I have never been more than arm's reach from a firearm or knife for any reason except for when I have to enter an airport, a courthouse, or other government building where I know I will be searched/scanned for weapons. Never. When I carry a gun into your home, I am saying that I will defend you and your family against any attack, as if you were my own flesh and blood. I hope that doesn't offend you. You and ACat are counted high among the members of my extended family and I would defend you unto my last breath.

Date: 2007-02-23 03:18 am (UTC)2. I have not yet found one I really like, though it would probably feature a horse or a cat.
3. Flogging Molly is an Irish folk/punk band. They sound very much like The Pogues if you are familiar with that band.
4. Oh, that's a tough one. I've jumped a horse over a 4'6" fence unintentionally (for me anyway, the horse apparently had thought it out). I've accidentally spun out my car in the middle of an interstate during rush hour traffic.
5. Probably my intelligence and my ability to solve practical and spacial problems.

4. Ooooohhhh, well I'm currently trying to change employeers but keep the same actual duties (going from temp to permanent) but I don't think that's what you mean. I'd love to be a writer, but I don't have the selfmotivation to stick to it.
