Looks like this one's going around again, but it's generally fun!
Ganked, this time around, from [livejournal.com profile] aiela

Here's the rules:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better. If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate!
3. You will update your lj with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Sure - you can save your questions, or ask them privately. BTW, thank you for letting me see the conversation you had with ACat, and feel free to privately ask me any question on that (or anything else)that you want.

1. Do you find you have a "type" in who you are attracted to, and are there any factors in that which are the same for both men and women?

2. What's the knitting project that you are most proud of having completed?

3. I see you have a number of authors in your interests that I really like. What author who is NOT in your interests would you recommend?

4. Have you ever outed yourself in any regard at a job (intentionally or not) and if so how did that go?

5. What's your favorite thing about yourself?

Date: 2007-02-22 08:09 pm (UTC)

Okay!

1. What attracted you to ACat first, and what most?

2. Have you ever outed yourself at work, and if so how did it go?

3. I don't know all your sweeties, but I do see some similarities between the ones I do know - do you consider that you have a "type", and are there any factors that are the same whether they are male or female?

4. What do you folks want for a wedding gift, dammit?

5. Is there really anything cuter than a Bucket of Baby Panda?

From: [identity profile] kitanzi.livejournal.com
1. How did you first get into filk, anyhow?

2. For that matter, where and when did we meet?

3. In your interests, what exactly does "intrumentality of mankind" mean, or "urbicande'?

4. How many languages do you feel you can make yourself reasonably well understood in by now?

5. What one thing do you most wish you could protect your kids from as they grow up?

1. Your interests include a lot of TV Shows and also a lot of authors that I like. What author and/or TV show NOT in there would you recommend to me?

2. Do you write fanfic as well as read it, and if so is there any where online to find it?

3.How do you define chosen family, or do you just recognize it when you see it and not define it at all?

4. Have you ever outed yourself at work, and if so how did that work out?

5. What is your favorite poly related memory - preferably work safe, since I may see this there? *G*

I'm going to answer this here instead of in my own journal, because there are people who read my own journal whom I'm not really interested in telling some of these answers to. There's nobody in *your* journal I mind. :)

1) The possibility of my IPs going psycho on me or becoming nasty or difficult to work with after I'm already pregnant and can't back out anymore.

2) Jenkitty. Take that in what sense thou wilt.

3) Deciding was easy. Persuading Manny was difficult. Jen helped with that. :)

4) Not to everyone at work, but to a specific work-friend who shared my office, once. It went mixed. She'd been talking with great interest about something involving open marriages that she heard on the radio, so I acknowledged that I knew something about them... first in an "I have friends whose marriages are like that," and then finally about myself. She was eager to learn about it but for several wrong reasons... turns out her marriage was in trouble due to her compulsive inability to stay faithful, and she was wondering whether negotiating terms for it would help. I frankly doubt it, both because her husband isn't a sort to be okay with that and because her compulsiveness ran in some fairly scary directions, like picking up strangers in bars without protection.

5) Abusive relationships, whether emotional or physical.

I'm open to being interviewed, with the proviso that I'd prefer to answer here in your comments section - on the grounds that I don't know *most* of the folks who read my own LJ well enough to ask good questions.

PS: I want to see ACat squirm over the answer to your question #5.
PPS: I confess that I wish your question #1 to ACat would come true, as long a it turned out to be a *really good thing* for all concerned.

Well, out of my meme tagged posts I only find one iteration of the interview meme and you didn't tag me on that one, but I would swear there were more, so maybe I mistagged. If any of these seem familiar, tell me and I'll come up with another one!

1. What in the name of sanity is a Molar Marauder?

2. And while I'm at it, what's the story behind Bobo the Lobster God? There must be one...

3. How did you get involved in your men's group, and what do you feel it helps you most with?

4. What's the scariest thing you've ever done?

5. What do you like best about yourself?

2. How did you folks come up with the idea for Aphelion in the first place, and how'd you choose that name?

3. When are you two coming to visit again?

4. If you weren't working the job you are, what job would you most like to be working?

1. This marriage is the most fun I've ever had! My profuse appologies to all the wonderful women with which I have been in relationships before, but Lyn is the perfect woman for me.

2. A wonderful fellow named Roger Bennett had first accepted some of my short stories for publication in his Dragon's Lair Webzine, then asked me to become his Assistant Editor. After about a year of that, Roger decided it was time to close Dragon's Lair down and move on to other writing projects. This left me with a bit of a dilemma: I and several other DL writers had unpublished serial chapters that weren't going to see the light of day unless something got done really quickly. After discussions with Roger about my doing the work and he providing webspace for continuing DL, Roger talked me into starting my own webzine, offered all of DL's unfinished serials and the backlog of unpublished stories to get me started. ACat taught me all I knew at the time about the Internet and talked me through buying the webspace, creating the "Aphelion Look" and publicising the e-zine. I think that without ACat, Aphelion wouldn't have gotten started, nor would it have continued for very long.

The name "Aphelion" was the title of the UGA SF & F Club's quarterly print fanzine. I was a member of the group, had contributed a story and some poems, and paid for the bulk mailing permit for two years while I was in college. (Other members included Tom Deitz and C.S. Friedman.) Aphelion was my first choice for a title. I contacted friends from the club that had the rights to the name and got their permission to use it. And thus one of the dinosaurs of the Internet was born.

3. We'd love to come visit. But the factory is having bi-monthly shutdowns and causing me to play pinch-penny budgetary games, however. However, on the bright side, ApheliCon 3 is less than 90 days away. Furthermore, ACat mentioned that the two of you might be able to afford to go to July's LibertyCon in Chattanooga, which Lyn and I are also planning to attend. We'll have a great time there, I'm sure.

4. I'd love for someone to pay me to write! Stories, poetry, music, lyrics, home & garden design blueprints, scripts, furniture designs, props, sets, recording studio work, oil paintings... Whatever I can turn my various talents to doing. Offer me $300 to $500 a week and I'll produce whatever you need! Free me! I beg of you!

LOL! My main problem is that I know how to do so many things, but there's no market for 99% of them. Do you know of anyone who needs a man of myriad talents and cross-training in dozens of disciplines? I don't. (Sigh...)

5. (A)Scariest thing that I did without thinking about it? Or (B)scariest thing that I've done that other people wouldn't/shouldn't do?
Or (C)Scariest thing that's ever happened to me?

Scariest (A) was when I saved a fellow High School student from accidentally hanging himself at Band Camp one year. He was playing with a rope tied to a tree like a swing and fell down, a loop of rope went around his neck during the fall, I was the only one of the onlookers that wasn't frozen in shock and ran over to hoist him into the air until others could come over and undo the rope.

Scariest (B) would have to be riding my mororcycle in 90 MPH rush hour traffic on a trip between Texas and Florida. Not for the faint of heart!

Scariest (C) was watching a cocaine-crazed leader of a gang of thugs who had just beaten the crap out of a black couple at a party that the thugs had crashed point a huge pistol at my best friend- knowing that my own pistol was locked in the glove box of my truck 40 yards away, on the other side of the gang -and knowing that I was absolutely helpless should the thug decide to murder my friend. Since that day I have never been more than arm's reach from a firearm or knife for any reason except for when I have to enter an airport, a courthouse, or other government building where I know I will be searched/scanned for weapons. Never. When I carry a gun into your home, I am saying that I will defend you and your family against any attack, as if you were my own flesh and blood. I hope that doesn't offend you. You and ACat are counted high among the members of my extended family and I would defend you unto my last breath.

1. You have met me many times, even been over to my house a few times. :)

2. I have not yet found one I really like, though it would probably feature a horse or a cat.

3. Flogging Molly is an Irish folk/punk band. They sound very much like The Pogues if you are familiar with that band.

4. Oh, that's a tough one. I've jumped a horse over a 4'6" fence unintentionally (for me anyway, the horse apparently had thought it out). I've accidentally spun out my car in the middle of an interstate during rush hour traffic.

5. Probably my intelligence and my ability to solve practical and spacial problems.

1. Why did you choose caffeine as your default icon?

2. For that matter, you have an icon labeled Larissa, and it's even spelled the same way I do. Who is that Larissa?

3. How did On the Mark get started, and how'd you choose the name?

4. When you decide to do a character for the SCA, how do you choose and develop it?

2. What's the most interesting story you have from teaching astronomy?

Sure! Let's see if I can think of some good questions.

1. What makes you happiest?

2. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be and why?

3. Is there something that you've always wished that you'd done, but never got to do?

4. If you could change jobs, what would you pick as the new one?

5. Have you ever had a fear or phobia that you've had to overcome?

Thinking of good questions is far harder than it looks!

2. I would magically fix both my health and ACat's health, so we didn't need to dick around with all this crap any more. *G*

3. Yep - hot air balloon flight, but I'll get there some day.

4. Ooooohhhh, well I'm currently trying to change employeers but keep the same actual duties (going from temp to permanent) but I don't think that's what you mean. I'd love to be a writer, but I don't have the selfmotivation to stick to it.

4. A friend of mine who learned English long after she learned Japanese is apparently a mystery fan and asked me for a recommendation for a "not too hard" mystery. I like them, but you look to be a bigger mystery fan that I am. What would you suggest?

3. You recently (earlier today!) said that you taught yourself to be sociable - you've obviously succeeded. How did you do that, and what prompted you to?

4. What is your favorite poly related memory?
