(Dontcha hate it/love it when a song grabs you when you're supposed to be doing something else, and refuses to go away?)

Same Thing We Do Every Night!

(to the tune of "History is Made by Stupid People" by the Arrogant Worms)

Mendel is famous for showing how genetic traits are shared,
Einstein made history proving the value of M C squared,
Both of the Curies are Nobel prize winners for working uranium,
All of these folks are brilliant, but Brain makes them look dumb.

The world, it seems, is ruled by stupid people.
Clever mice could rule it just as well!
We’re gonna grab our chance to control the earth,
At least until our plans all go to hell!

Humankind are masters for no reason,
Politicians often make mistakes.
We’ll conquer them tonight and see before the dawn
What a stunning team the two of us will make!

We’ll pick the easy locks upon the cages,
And fool folks with a marvelous disguise.
We’ll make a million on a tv game show,
The big bucks that we need to start our rise!

The world, it seems, is ruled by stupid people.
Clever mice could rule it just as well!
We’re gonna grab our chance to control the earth,
At least until our plans all go to hell!

Pinky! BRAIN! Pinky! BRAIN!
Our clever plots cannot forever fail!
Pinky! BRAIN! Pinky! BRAIN!
Once we break out of our laboratory jail!

Changed by our genetic engineering,
One’s a genius, one is just insane.
Pinky, are you pondering what I’m pondering?
I think so - have you got an emu, Brain?

The world, it seems, is ruled by stupid people.
Clever mice could rule it just as well!
We’re gonna grab our chance to control the earth,
At least until our plans all go to hell!
At least until our plans all go to hell!
Why must our plans forever go to hell?

NARF!

Well, thanks! (Are you unfamiliar with the Arrogant Worms, then? If so, you should do something about that!)

Nice! I've heard the original song, but didn't know it was an Arrogant Worms song.

You picked one of my favorite Worms tunes, you used two of my favorite characters, and you wrote clever lyrics. What's not to like?

Yep, and they do lots of good ones. Definitely worth checking out, if you're not so familiar with them. (And thanks for the compliment!)

Whee! Thanks - considering the quality of the songs I know of yours, that's a high compliment. :)

Oh by the way, which one's Pink(y)?

Actually, I *do* know which one's Pinky. Chosen One, who (unlike me) is a fan of P. and the B., complimented you on your hoisting of lyrics from the show's theme song - "One's a genius, one is just insane." My question actually is, which one's which. It sounds like two characters are being talked about in the line. My vague remembrance of the show is that one character (the Brain) was both a genius and insane, with Pinky being sort of a straight 'man'.

Speaking of insane, how's work going? A little better, I gather?

Heh... ACat sent this to rec music filk for me, and the precise same question promptly came up. :) Please thank C.O. for the compliment for me! As for who's insane... well, both of them really, but Pinky's much more random and surreal in his insanity. Work is going ever so much better - I expect this to be the last week of 12 hour days, though it hasn't been made official yet. We're pretty definitely done with Saturdays, too, which is even more of a relief. (I love your Pink Floyd reference, btw!)
