Working in interesting times
This weekend was crazybusy as ACat and I and a couple of her other friends helped
telynor pack up and move her household into storage, but this morning I came into work with that particular feeling of being well worked and a little tired and pleasantly accomplished, all in a cause I'm proud of. Personally, I think this team kicked ass, but I said that enough times last night in looking around at the results that I can probably leave it as understood.
Anyhow, I came into work this morning in a nicely mellow mood, full of good will and ready to get cracking here now that there's wrapped up. I started to log in and got a message that my ID was suspended, and I needed to call the help desk. Hmmmm. I called them and got a very perky lady who told me it looked like a security issue, so she transferred me to security. That got me someone who could have used some coffee who told me I was listed as a terminated contractor.
Adrenaline beats caffine for a quick, effective wakeup every time. Once I found out that Karen, the other remaining member of my training class, was having the same problem I was much reassured. It appears someone didn't realize that paperwork had to be done on this end to extend our contracts, or at least didn't give that paperwork to security, I don't know which. The temp agency apparently still thinks we're employed, which is reassuring.
So, I'm sitting here trying to look busy. I have email and internet access, but none of the minimum stuff I would need to do my actual job. An hour and a half of that now, and counting - it's a very odd day. (My supervisor's supervisor just came by and asked me to try logging on again - no luck. Oh well!)
Update: Just got fixed, a few minutes after noon! Three hours twiddling my thumbs... bleah. Boring. But it's fixed!
